Grand Cultural Tour of Albania
DAY 1 - Arrival
Meet at Tirane International Airport and depart for Kruje. Visit the castle of Kruje, the museum of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, the ethnographic museum and the old bazaar. Overnight at Kruje.
DAY 2 - Exploration of Shkoder and Mes Bridge
Leave for Shkoder and visit of Rozafa Castle, Mes bridge (Ottoman bridge) and the historical museum. Overnight at Shkoder.
DAY 3 - Lissus
Leave for Lezhe. Visit of the site and the citadel (German Albanian Excavations). Depart for Rubik and Burrel. Overnight at Burrel.
DAY 4 - Durres
Leave for Durres. Walking tour of Durres and visit of the walls, the archaeologic museum, the forum, and the amphitheater. Overnight at Durres.
DAY 5 - The ancient city of Apollonia
Leave for Apollonia. Walking tour through the site and visit of the stoa, the Odeon, and the monastery (museum of Apollonia) at Apollonia. Coach to Fier for the overnight stay.
DAY 6 - The ancient city of Byllis
Coach to Byllis. Visit the ancient city and the theater. Drive to Berat for the overnight stay.
DAY 7 - Churches of Berat
Visit of the citadel of Berat (Onufri’s Museum, Saint Vlacherna, Saint Todri, and Holy Trinity churches. Visit on foot to King’s Mosque, Han, tekke, Bachelor’s Mosque and the ethnographic museum). Coach to Vlore for the overnight stay.
DAY 8 - Vlore, Orikum and the monastery of Zvernec
Visit the castle of Kanine. Stop in center of Vlore and visit of Muradie mosque and Independence Monument. Continue visits in Orikum, the monastery in Zvernec (medieval church) and mosque. Overnight at Vlore
DAY 9 - Ali Pasha's Fortress and the ancient Synagogue of Sarande
Depart to Sarande. Visit Ali Pasha’s fortress in Porto Palermo. Coffee break at Borsh, Himare. Walking tour on foot of Sarande (the walls and the ancient synagogue). Overnight at Sarande.
DAY 10 - Butrint and Phoenike
Leave for Butrint. Visit the basilica, theater, Sanctuary of Asclepius, baptistery, Anglo Albanian Excavations, Venetian Fortress, and the museum. Leave for Phoenike and visit the theater and the settlement. Coach back to Sarande. Overnight at Sarande.
DAY 11 - Blue Eye spring, Mesopotam's Monastery and the ancient city of Antigonea
Leave for Gjirokaster. Visit Syri I Kalter (‘Blue Eye’ karstic spring) and St. Nicholas Monastery Church in Mesopotam. Check-in at the hotel. Drive to Antigonea and visit the site. Coach back to Gjirokaster. Overnight at Gjirokaster.
DAY 12 - The tumulus of Kamenice
Leave for Korçe. Coach to Kamenice and visit of the tumulus and museum of Kamenice. Check-in at the hotel and overnight in Korçe.
DAY 13 - Exploration of Korce and Voskopoje
Walk to Korçe’s Archaeological Museum and Mediaeval Art Museum. Coach to Voskopoje, visit medieval churches. Coach back to the hotel in Korçe. Overnight at Korçe.
DAY 14 - Lower Selce's kings tombs and the old city of Elbasan
Leave for Selce e Poshtme and visit the site. Continue to Elbasan; walk around Elbasan and visit the ethnographic museum, Elbasan’s old city walls, paleochristian basilica, King’s mosque, hammam, and Via Egnatia. Continue to Tirane for the overnight stay.
DAY 15 - Exploration of Tirane and Departure - Thank you
Walking tour of Ottoman house in Rruga Murat Toptani, Parliament building, Tanner’s bridge, the tomb of Kaplan Pasha, Mosque of Ethem Bey and the Clock Tower. Visit the archaeological museum. Depart for Tirana International Airport.
